| Hit me, 'Baby,' one more time Thu, 24 Apr 2008 09:30:01 -0500 The "Odd Couple" buddy comedy is a much tried and true formula that has worked since Neil Simon penned his famous play-turned-movie-turned-TV show of the same name.Giving it a female twist isn't super fresh, but the oversize talent of leading funny ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler gives "Baby Mama" some gas, even if much of the film feels like a throwback to the original "Odd Couple" as well as '80s movies like "Baby Boom."The light, barely hinged in reality vibe is also reminiscent of the wacky comedies that helped Bette Midler's career find another rebirth, like "Outrageous Fortune" and "Desperate People."Hopefully, with this funny flick, more female-centric comedies are on the horizon. |
